Valencia vs Chelsea preview

The most interesting Champions League tie on Wednesday will see high-flying Valencia host mighty Chelsea with Blues’ big name summer signing Juan Manuel Mata set to face his former teammates for the first time.

Despite the departure of the Spain international, Valencia have enjoyed a remarkable start to the season, outplaying teams like Atletico Madrid and Barcelona in the process.

Nevertheless, los Che enter this game in poor spirits having just recorded the first defeat of the season, losing to nine-man Sevilla at the weekend.

Coach Unai Emery decided to rest several star players at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, which ended up costing his side precious points, so he is now expected to field his strongest line-up.

After outplaying mighty Barcelona at Mestalla few weeks back, nobody can guarantee that los Che won’t do the same against Chelsea, so you should know William Hill pays 3.00 (2/1) on home win.

Sergio Canales, Roberto Soldado, Jordi Alba and Miguel should all return to the starting line-up, whereas David Albelda and Mehmet Topal have resumed training after recovering from injuries.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Guaita – Miguel, Rami, Ruiz, Alba – Banega, Albelda – Hernandez, Soldado, Mathieu – Soldado.

Chelsea have been playing pretty well under new boss Andre Villas-Boas, although the easy fixture list was certainly one of the reasons for the good run of results at the start of the season.

The Blues showed some promise in the Premiership derby against Manchester United, but ended up losing the game after missing several glorious chances to score.

They then largely struggled in the Carling Cup tie with Fulham, before winning the game on penalties, so the 4:1 win over Swansea was definitely a welcoming boost, even if Fernando Torres was sent off during the first half.

The Spaniard is still struggling for form, but he managed to score in two successive games and is now 3.25 (9/4) with Unibet to score at Mestalla as well.

Frank Lampard faces a tough task of getting back to the starting line-up after being dropped for the last two games, but Fernando Torres should start as he is suspended for Sunday’s game against Bolton.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Cech – Bosingwa, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole – Ramires, Mikel, Meireles – Sturridge, Torres, Mata.

ABV should start fielding David Luis and Terry if he wants to lift silver wares this season because the defense looks shaky whenever theres Ivanovic and no wonder they concede he should also be aware that Barcelona wants a center back to replace Puyol and they out for David Luis or Thiago Silva and i think starting today should start giving the young lad first team football because the bench does not suit him.
