Jadon Sancho is reportedly set to miss his reunion with former employers Manchester City through injury.

Borussia Dortmund host Pep Guardiola’s men on Wednesday evening at the Signal Iduna Park in the second-leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final meeting.

Having missed the first-leg at the Etihad Stadium, the upcoming game would have been the Englishman’s first match against his former club since departing for Dortmund back in 2017 but he is seemingly set to be ruled with a thigh injury.

It all means that the injury will have kept the 21-year-old on the sidelines for the past month. His absence will not only disappoint him but also Dortmund who find themselves 2-1 behind after the first-leg.

In his time in Germany, Sancho has made 130 appearances for the club, scoring 46 goals and providing a further 60 assists.

Of Sancho’s injury, Dortmund interim coach Edin Terzic said: “Jadon won’t be at our disposal. He trained again, he is doing his best, we would like to have him available but he won’t be. We have to take our time with him.”

In his absence, Erling Haaland is of course the favourite to open the scoring from a Dortmund perspective against Manchester City. He can be backed at a price of 5/1 with Betfair to net the opening goal of the game on Wednesday.
