Borussia Dortmund wideman Jadon Sancho is a huge influence on the confidence of young players at the club, fellow winger Jude Bellingham has suggested.
The former Birmingham City followed in the footsteps of the England man in the summer, moving from his home country to join Dortmund and has already enjoyed a bright start to life at the Westfalenstadion.
With Sancho having developed a reputation as one of the most exciting winger’s in world football at Dortmund, Bellingham has said his path and assistance has helped inspire him and other youngsters at the club.
Talking to Kicker, the 17-year-old said: “Sancho is really important for me.
“Not only because he comes from the same country as me or because he speaks the same language. What’s more important is how he puts his arm around me but also around the other young players, how he encourages us in our abilities, how he gives us confidence.
“He is a great role model for English players of my age. To receive praise and encouragement from him means an awful lot to me. It helps me a lot.”
Sancho and Bellingham could be back in action on Wednesday evening as Dortmund do battle with Zenit St Petersburg in the UEFA Champions League. They are at 4/1 and 14/1 respectively with Betfair to net the opening goal of the match.
