Real Zaragoza vs Granada preview

Granada vs ZaragozaAfter Mallorca won their last two league fixtures, both Real Zaragoza and Granada are in danger of slipping into the bottom three, which should give the two sides plenty of motives to do well at La Romareda.

Midway through last season, Real Zaragoza were virtually written off, as they sat at La Liga rock bottom, some ten odd points adrift of safety, but they somehow managed to survive thanks to an amazing finish to the league campaign.

The situation is much better now given that los Manos are above the bottom three, but the problem is they currently sit just one point in front of relegation-threatened Mallorca.

Having failed to win any of their last ten fixtures, Zaragoza clearly have got to try and end the barren run, with the hosts 2.20 (6/5) @ BetVictor to do so.

Los Manos are also winless in their last six home matches in La Liga, which cannot give them plenty of reason for optimism ahead of the clash with Granada.

Glen Loovens misses out through suspension after being sent off against Getafe, while Apono has been ruled out with a hamstring problem.

Keeper Roberto Jimenez has resumed full training, but is unlikely to start after spending two weeks on the sidelines. Franco Zuculini, Javi and Ivan Obradovic remain sidelined.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Alcolea – Sapunaru, Alvaro, Wilchez, Abraham – Movilla, Jose Mari, Babovic – Rochina, Postiga, Montanes.

Granada have been in and around the bottom three throughout the current league campaign, but just a couple of weeks ago it looked as they might just avoid a nervy season finale.

Back to back triumphs over Real Madrid and Deportivo La Coruna saw los Rojiblancos create a significant advantage over the relegation zone, but they quickly ruined everything they worked for.

Straight defeats to Barcelona, Celta Vigo and Mallorca seriously damaged team’s survival chances, as Granada now sit just two points above the bottom three.

They do have a chance to make things right by winning at Zaragoza, and 2-1-2 record in last five away games can give them something to hope for.

This may be a long shot, but bear in mind Stan James have Granada at 3.75 (11/4) to record what would be a vital win in their survival battle.

Granada boss Lucas Alcaraz cannot count on forward Carlos Aranda, who is ineligible to face his parent club, while Hassan Yebda is doubtful after picking up a knee injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Tono – Nyom, Mainz, Inigo Lopez, Siqueira – Torje, Mikel Rico, Recio, Nolito – Ighalo, El-Arabi.
