Real Zaragoza vs Deportivo La Coruna preview

Real Zaragoza can make a big step towards La Liga survival by beating their relegation rivals, whereas Deportivo La Coruna, still winless on the travels, would probably settle for one point from La Romareda.

Having produced quite a coup to survive last season after they had been completely written off midway through the league campaign, los Manos were desperate to avoid a similar scenario this term.

Club officials did extremely well to sign players like Apono, Romaric, Loovens and Cristian Sapunaru virtually free of charge, but they, nonetheless, went on to lose 5 of first 7 league games.

Back to back wins over Granada and Sevilla saw the team finally leave the danger zone, while it is highly unlikely the players will be too downhearted by the 4-0 defeat to Real Madrid, especially after playing so well for more than 85 minutes.

Taking their good form into account as well as the fact their next opponents have yet to win away this season, odds of 2.20 (6/5) offered at Stan James look too good to pass.

Cristian Sapunaru is set to start after recovering from injury, but Jose Mari and Edu Oriol are both injury doubts. Maurizio Lanzaro and Ivan Obradovic remain long-term casualties.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Jimenez – Sapunaru, Gonzalez, Loovens, Abraham – Romaric, Movilla – Montanes, Apono, Rodriguez – Postiga.

Deportivo La Coruna were another club that did a tremendous job in the summer transfer window given the limited resources they had at their disposal.

Without spending a dime, the club from Galicia have signed players like Marchena, Camunas, Roderick, Oliveira, Aguilar, Evaldo, Pizzi and Santos, all of whom have played an important part in team’s bright start to the season.

After picking up 6 points from first 4 games, Deportivo did lose four on the bounce, but they have since improved to bring one point from Vigo before beating Mallorca at home.

Jose Luis Oltra’s men are now searching for their first victory on the road, with BetVictor paying 3.90 (29/10) on away win.

Carlos Marchena and Ayoze Diaz are both ruled out, while Abel Aguilar, Nelson Oliveira, Diogo Salomao and Jesus Vazquez remain sidelined.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Aranzubia – Laure, Aythami, Castro, Evaldo – Dominguez, Bergantinos – Gama, Valeron, Pizzi – Riki.
