Deportivo La Coruna vs Celta Vigo preview

Depor vs CeltaDeportivo La Coruna are in such a difficult position that not even a victory in this match would help them a great deal in their survival fight, but fail to win and they will have lost all chances to survive.

Celta Vigo could finally climb away from the bottom three with three points from Riazor and that should be enough incentive for the visitors to give their best in this clash.

Deportivo La Coruna successfully returned to the elite division after spending just one season in Segunda, but it appears they are set for a straight return to the second tier of Spain’s football.

Los Blanquiazules enjoyed a pretty good start to the season, but they quickly started slipping down the La Liga standings and have been at the rock bottom for quite a while now.

After missing several excellent chances to boost their survival hopes, Deportivo surprisingly produced two very good showings against the El Clasico rivals, but failed to get anything from the two games, staying deep in the bottom three.

With the team now nine points adrift of safety, this is clearly a do or die game for them, and Stan James has them at 2.38 (11/8) to finally end a nine-match winless run.

Top scorer Riki has resumed full training after recovering from a hamstring problem and he is in contention to start, while Carlos Marchena should be available despite struggling with a bout of flu. Diogo Salomao, Laure, Ze Castro, Kaka Bezerra and Jasus Vazquez, however, all miss out through injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Aranzubia – Pablo, Marchena, Aythami, Silvio – Assuncao, Aguilar – Gama, Valeron, Pizzi – Riki.

Celta Vigo continue to show plenty of promise in most of their fixtures, but the lack of cutting edge is costing them dearly at the moment.

The weekend’s game against Real Madrid was another one in which the Sky Blues produced a very good display, but failed to pick up any points in the process.

Celta need to be more ruthless up front if they want to survive this season and the match against bottom-placed Deportivo is a great chance to boost their survival hopes.

The 1-1-12 away record in La Liga is enough to suggest the Sky Blues will be in for a difficult task, and that is probably the main reason why away win pays as much as 3.20 (11/5) at Coral.

Alex Lopez has joined fellow midfielder Natxo Insa in the infirmary, with Hugo Mallo and Samuel Llorca not yet ready to return.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Varas – Jonny, Demidov, Tunez, Lago – Oubina, Pranjic – Fernandez, Bermejo, Krohn-Dehli – Aspas.
