With just two points separating the two sides at the moment, the new edition of Derby della Capitale should guarantee the fans premium excitement.

Neither Lazio nor Roma have been too impressive during the early exchanges, but this will be a perfect opportunity for one of the teams to kick-start their season.

It appears that early start of the season due to their commitments in Europa League helped Lazio hit the ground running earlier than other Serie A sides, with the Biancocelesti winning six of first eight league games to climb to fourth in the standings.

However, the hectic schedule finally get to them as Vladimir Petkovic’s side went on to record two heavy defeats on the travels, while only mustering a 1-1 draw at home with struggling Torino.

Everybody at the club is hoping Europa League win over Panathinaikos will be enough to restore the players’ confidence before the all-important game against Roma, where Lazio are 2.62 (13/8) with Paddy Power to emerge triumphant.

The hosts will have Miroslav Klose back to the side from suspension, and after scoring 6 goals in 10 league games this term, the veteran striker is 2.75 (7/4) with 888sport to score against Roma.

First choice keeper Federico Marchetti returns to the side, meaning that the infirmary is now empty, although Ederson is doubtful with a thigh problem.

Probable starting line-up (4-1-4-1): Marchetti – Konko, Biava, Dias, Lulic – Ledesma – Candreva, Gonzalez, Hernanes, Mauri – Klose.

Having spent more than €20 million on new players, Roma had big ambitions for this season, but things haven’t really gone as planned.

Despite showing a lot of promise in pre-season, the Giallorossi have largely struggled to achieve any sort of consistency during early exchanges, even if their games have been pretty entertaining.

Zdenek Zeman’s side did well to recover from back to back defeats to Udinese and Parma, as they hammered Palermo at home, but they will have to a show a considerable improvement in order to beat very good Lazio side.

Away win pays 2.60 (8/5) at Ladbrokes, but having scored at least two goals in every one of their last five games, Roma to score two or more, at odds of 1.75 (3/4) offered at Sportingbet, looks a much better option.

Daniele De Rossi and Leonardo Castan return to the side, but with Maarten Stekelenburg and Bogdan Lobont both sidelined, third choice keeper Mauro Goicoichea will start between the sticks.

Mattia Destro is suspended after he was sent off against Palermo, while Lamela, Osvaldo and Totti form the attacking trident.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Goicoichea – Piris, Marquinhos, Castan, Balzaretti – De Rossi, Tachtsidis, Florenzi – Lamela, Osvaldo, Totti.
