Lazio vs Roma preview

The Roman giants enter the derby game tied on points and not too far behind leaders Juventus, so there are no doubts we will see a great game at Olimpico.

Boosted by the summer arrivals of Cisse, Klose, Marchetti, Cana and Konko, to name just a few, Lazio started the season well, having easily qualified for the Europa League group stages.

The Biancocelesti then held Milan to 2:2 draw at San Siro, but things started taking the wrong turn since.

Home draw against Vaslui and defeat to Genoa were seen as major setbacks, although the team managed to show some improvement since.

While Lazio couldn’t beat Palermo at home, they managed to beat both Cesena and Fiorentina away, meaning they enter this match in pretty good spirits. Unibet pays 2.65 (33/20) on home win.

Midfielders Matuzalem, Stefano Mauri and Simone Del Nero are all sidelined, but Miroslav Klose should be fit to play.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Marchetti – Konko, Biava, Dias, Radu – Gonzalez, Ledesma, Brocchi – Hernanes – Klose, Cisse.

Roma, too, changed a big part of the squad this summer and with new coach Luis Enrique also arriving, the team were always going to need some time to gel.

Early elimination from Europa League and just two points from first three Serie A games gave Roma fans plenty to worry about, but the team appear to be finally returning to the right track.

Back to back wins over Parma and Atalanta have not only helped the Giallorossi improve their position in the standings, but also saw the players restore some of the lost confidence, and Luis Enrique is certainly happy that his team managed to do so before the most important game of the season.

Club icon Francesco Totti is set to miss the clash through injury, but David Pizarro, Miralem Pjanic and Maarten Stekelenburg have all resumed training and will be in contention for the starting places.

Roma have been in pretty good form of late and they are 3.00 (2/1) with Victor Chandler to get one over their rivals.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Stekelenburg – Rossi, Burdisso, Heinze, Angel – Perotta, De Rossi, Simplicio – Bojan, Osvaldo, Pjanic.
