Schalke 04 are set to resign defender Sead Kolasinac, with the Arsenal man reportedly rejoining the club on-loan.

The Bosnian international, who made his first venture into senior football with the German outfit, is set to sign a loan deal until the end of the 2020/21 season, with the Gunners technical director Edu confirming the deal.

He said: “Sead needs to be playing regularly, so we have decided together that a move back to Germany with Schalke will benefit him at this moment.

“We will be keeping in close contact with Sead, and wish him huge success for the remainder of the season with Schalke.”

In his previous spell with Schalke, the now 27-year-old made 123 appearances before he left for Arsenal on a free transfer.

Despite making 35 appearances in all competitions in his first season at the Emirates Stadium, Kolasinac has seen his game time reduce dramatically in North London and has only made one Premier League start so far this season.

He now joins a Schalke side aiming to stave off the threat of relegation to the 2. Bundesliga. After 13 matches of the season, they have only claimed four points and not a single victory.

Christian Gross’ men now sit at odds of 2/9 with Betfair to suffer relegation come the end of the campaign.
