The hard-fought victory over Nigeria made Uruguay the favourites to go through to the next round alongside Spain, with the match against Tahiti likely to be a good shooting practice for Oscar Tabarez’s men.

Their opponents have so far conceded 16 goals and it is highly unlikely they will fare much better in their final Confederations Cup game.

Uruguay did well to qualify for the tournament finals having won the 2011 Copa America, but some poor showings near the turn of the year was definitely a cause for concern.

Tahiti are now getting ready for their final game at the tournament, and they will certainly be hoping to show some improvement following two heavy defeats.
