Arsenal vs Manchester United preview

It looks as though the match at the Emirates will not be a title decider as it was predicted when the Premier League draw was made, although the Gunners can do Chelsea a big favour by beating United on Sunday.

The Gunners saw their title hopes go up in smoke as they lost to Bolton last weekend, but they cannot afford to relax just yet as Arsene Wenger’s side have yet to secure 3rd place and automatic qualification to the Champions League group stage.

Arsenal are low on spirits at the moment but they will have a lot of motives to beat United and prove everyone that this team have quality to fight for honours.

Arsene Wenger could have Thomas Rosicky back after illness, while Thomas Vermaelen could soon be available after featuring for the reserves in midweek. Kyle Bartley, Abou Diaby, Lukasz Fabianski and Vito Mannone remain in the infirmary.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Szczesny – Sagna, Koscielny, Djourou, Clichy – Fabregas, Song, Wilshire – Walcott, Van Persie, Nasri.

This is the first match ball for Manchester United since it is highly unlikely that they will squander a six-point cushion in the final three games of the season, even if the Red Devils are set to host Chelsea in the next round.

The weekend’s victory over Everton saw United make a giant step towards the Premier League title, whereas the impressive win over Schalke saw Red Devils book their place in the Champions League final alongside Barcelona.

United enter this match in much better spirits than their opponents and seeing Sir Alex Ferguson’s men are red hot at the moment, backing United to beat Arsenal at odds of 3.00 (2/1) offered by Victor Chandler could go a long way.

Paul Scholes serves the final game of his three-match ban, but Dimitar Berbatov could play some part after recovering from a groin injury. Darren Fletcher and Owen Hargreaves remain sidelined, while Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs could be rested.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Van der Sar – Rafael, Smalling, Vidic, Evra – Valencia, Anderson, Carrick, Nani – Hernandez, Rooney.

With both sides looking for a victory at the Emirates, we are likely to see a very open game, so it is worth noting that William Hill pays 2.00 (1/1) on over 2.5 goals.
