Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has praised his side for the win against Chelsea in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea, who are the defending European champions, suffered a 3-1 defeat to Spanish and European giants Madrid at Stamford Bridge in London in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie.
France international striker Karim Benzema scored a hat-trick for Madrid, who can be backed at 10/1 on Betfair to win the second leg 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu next week.
Ancelotti told Madrid’s official website: “We put in a very good performance and were brave and showed our personality. We were the better side, but there’s still another game to come and anything can happen.
“It’s now half-time in the tie and we want to produce the same performance in the return leg.
“We’ve given ourselves an advantage after producing a good game plan and that’s all there is to it.
“We’ve clearly got an advantage, but the tie is still wide open. Chelsea benefit from the fact that the away goals rule is no longer in place.”
