The Premier League returns this weekend, with Arsenal and Liverpool kicking-off proceedings at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.

The hosts go in to the game on the back of a run which has seen them win fourteen of their last sixteen games in all competitions, and their victory at Newcastle United was their sixth in succession.

They currently sit in third place, and another win here will see them leapfrog champions Manchester City into second and move them to within four of leaders Chelsea, who host Stoke City in Saturday’s late kick-off.

Danny Welbeck has a slight knee problem and will be assessed ahead off kick off, while Jack Wilshere could feature after recovering from an ankle problem.

Mikel Arteta, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, Mathieu Debuchy and Abou Diaby have also returned to training but aren’t likely to play any part this weekend.

Olivier Giroud is favourite to get the first goal of the game at the widely available price of 5.5 (9/2), ahead of 6.0 (5/1) chance Alexis Sanchez.

The home win is available at a price of 1.87 (20/23) with Bet Victor, with the visitors as highly priced as the 4.6 (18/5) on offer from Betfair. The draw is widely available at 3.8 (14/5).

Brendan Rodgers’ side go in to the game on the back of a defeat to fierce rivals Manchester United – a result which brought to an end a thirteen game unbeaten league run.

The Reds now sit five points off the top four, and a further point behind their opponents and defeat here could see them slip to as low as seventh place should both Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton get positive results in their games.

Steven Gerrard and Martin Skrtel will both miss the game through suspension and Adam Lallana is a doubt with a groin problem though Daniel Sturridge, Raheem Sterling and Lucas could all return.

Sturridge can be backed at 7.5 (13/2) to net first while Sterling, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal this week, is a 12.0 (11/1) chance with 888 Sport.

This is a fixture that usually guarantees goals, with at least three being scored in five of the past seven meetings and you can back there being over 2.5 this time around at 1.75 (3/4) with Bet Victor.
