Irish Champion Stakes BettingMost, if not all, of us get thrilled while watching those exciting sports events. One of the horse racing events a lot of racing fans and bettors look forward to is the Irish Champion Stakes. This event is a Group 1 flat horse race that is participated by 3 year old horses. This is set to take place annually in Leopardstown in Ireland during the month of September. Horses race over a mile and 2 furlongs or 2,012 metres during this racing event. This was first inaugurated in the year 1976 and was originally called the Joe McGrath Memorial Stakes which was in honor of Joe McGrath who was an excellent racehorse owner and also founded the Irish Hospital’s Sweepstake. In the year 1984, the race was renamed the Phoenix Championship Stakes and was moved to the Phoenix Park.

In 1991, the present name of the event was introduced when the race moved back to Leopardstown following the closure of the Phoenix Park. This race started to become a part of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge series three years ago and the successful winner will automatically earn an invite to participate in the Breeders’ Cup Turf in the same year. A lot of people participate in the Irish Champion Stakes betting because it is a great avenue of winning some cash. They also get to enjoy the thrilling action during the competition while hoping for a win.
