Terek Grozny decided to sack coach Ruud Gullit following the defeat to Amkar and this match will show whether that was the right decision or not. Krylya Sovetov have
Finally left the bottom of the standings having beaten Kuban Krasnodar at home, but they, nonetheless, face a tough task in Chechnya.

Can Terek kick-start their season?

The club chiefs had big plans for this season, which is exactly why they brought coach Ruud Gullit, believing that he will help the team make the step forward and build a side capable of matching the best teams in the league. However, if they had looked at the Dutchman’s coaching biography they would have realized that he hadn’t had any success in the past, so no wonder that his appointment proved to be a poor decision. Gullit was finally sacked following the defeat to Amkar and his departure could have a positive effect on the players, who will be very motivated to impress his replacement Isa Baitiev. Having won three of four home games before losing to mighty CSKA, keeping four clean sheets in the process, Terek definitely have reason for optimism before the match with one of the weakest sides in the league.

Guy Essame continues to miss out through injury, while Rodrigo Tui is suspended after picking up his fourth yellow card of the season.

Valuable win over Kuban

Having finished last league campaign just one point above the relegation places, Krylya Sovetov were always going to have problems this term, but their record of never being relegated from the Russian Premier League will be put to the real test. The summer arrivals Rais M’Bohli, Nejc Pecnik and Steeve Joseph-Reinette have failed to bring the much needed quality to the squad and that is one of the reasons why the Wings are still in the relegation zone. Krylya finally managed to escape the rock bottom by beating Kuban at home, but considering their results this season that looks like a one-off result. The club have signed their former player Ognjen Koroman, hoping he will bring an improvement to the attacking department, but the Serbian winger will not feature until after the summer break. The visitors face big selection problems before the trip to Grozny, so I really doubt they can get something from this match.

Ibrahim Tsallagov, Sergei Kuznetsov, Dmitri Molosh, Juan Carlos Escobar and Eugene Zverev didn’t make the trip because of injuries.

Verdict

Terek are expected to show a positive response after Ruud Gullit left the club and their good home record gives them reason for optimism. Krylya have brought just two points from six away games and with several first team regulars out on sidelines, they have nothing to hope for in Grozny.
