Brescia vs Inter

Brescia desperately need a victory in order to escape the relegation zone, although this is hardly the game in which they should be searching for points needed to survive. Inter want to continue the four-match winning run and put an extra pressure on Milan, as well as keep the good atmosphere in the squad before the Champions League clash with Bayern.

Three straight draws

Brescia had started the season in great style, winning three of the first four league games, but the Rondinelle soon returned to where they belong and embarked on a poor run that still lasts, that is if we disregard occasional home wins. Brescia have shown some improvement lately, as they managed to hold both Udinese and Napoli to a goalless draw away from home, but Beppe Iachini’s side have now experienced problems at home, having lost to Lazio and shared spoils with Lecce in last two games at Stadio Mario Rigamonti. Coach Beppe Iachini still has some important players out on the sidelines, which only adds to the worries before the Inter game, but the hosts will, nonetheless, have to try and win this game as they are currently three points adrift of safety. Having already lost six home games this season, Brescia don’t have much to hope for before the visit of Inter.

Pietro Accardi misses out through suspension, while Simone Dallamano, Nicolas Cordova, Cristiano Zanetti and Antonio Filippini remain sidelined.

Four wins in a row

Inter are determined to give Milan a real value for their money in the Serie A title race, with the Neroazzurri keeping the pressure on their fierce rivals with some impressive performances on domestic stage. Leonardo’s side quickly returned to winning ways following the unlucky defeat to Bayern in the Champions League and they easily beat both Sampdoria and Genoa, so nobody will be surprised if they beat Brescia as well. This game has been moved for Friday so that the Neroazzurri would have enough time to recover before the return leg with Bayern, so Leonardo will be able to field the best possible side in this clash. Inter have won last four games in Serie A as well as four out of last five away games in all competitions, meaning they have every reason to feel optimistic before the trip to Brescia.

Esteban Cambiasso, Diego Milito and Walter Samuel remain sidelined, but Leonardo will be able to field the same side that beat Genoa 5:2 last weekend.

Verdict

Brescia are in all sorts of problems at the moment and the hosts will be missing no less than four important players in this clash, so they really don’t look capable of getting something from this match. Inter have been in remarkable form lately and they are hot favourites to win this one.
