Brescia vs Fiorentina

It is now clear that Brescia will be playing in Serie B next season, so it is no wonder the hosts are desperate for this season to end as soon as possible. Fiorentina, on the other hand, have shown some improvement in the second part of the league campaign and they are hoping to end the season on a high.

Brescia preparing for Serie B

Having spent the big part of the season in the relegation zone, nobody was surprised to see Brescia return to Serie B and it is now clear that the club’s poor dealings in the summer transfer window were the reason behind a very disappointing season. The club management tried to reinforce the squad in January, bringing Lanzafame, Zanetti, Accardi and Jonathas but it was a too little too late for Brescia. Beppe Iachini’s side have been in dismal form of late, losing four of their last five games, so nobody would be surprised if they ended the season with yet another defeat, especially as the coach will again give a chance to some fringe players. Youngster Leali will continue in goal, which can be a great chance for Fiorentina as the player has absolutely no experience at the highest level. The hosts will be missing a host of first team regulars, which only adds to the worries.

Hetemaj and Kone are suspended, while Dallamano, Cordova, Sereni, Zanetti and Mareco are out through injury. Possanzini and Lanzafame have not been included in the squad.

Fiorentina hoping for top 10 finish

Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic experienced big problems immediately upon arriving at Artemio Franchi as several key players started the season on the sidelines, with the trend continuing almost until the end of the league campaign. It is only recently that the injury situation has improved and that was the main reason behind team’s uptrend in form. Thanks to some very good showings Viola climbed back to the top part of the table and they can now finish the season in top half of the table with a win over out-of-form Brescia. Fiorentina missed a chance to beat Bologna last weekend, so they will be looking to make amends for that game, while there are no doubts that Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side have got enough quality to win this game. With players like Montolivo, Vargas, Gilardino and Mutu in the side, Viola look capable of picking all the points from Mario Rigamonti.

Per Kroldrup is suspended, while Khouma Babacar is injured. Sebastien Frey will continue between the sticks.

Verdict

Brescia are in all sorts of problems at the moment and with Beppe Iachini missing several very important players, the hosts don’t look capable of getting something from this match. Fiorentina have been playing really well of late and they should be able to finish the season with a win.
