Brazil squadBrazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has announced his 23-man squad for the 2014 World Cup finals, leaving out several star players in the process.

Robinho, Ronaldinho and Kaka have all been overlooked as Scolari opted to go with the same group he has worked with since taking over the reigns.

Atletico Madrid in-form full-back Filipe Luis also misses out as PSG’s Maxwell has been selected as a back-up to Marcelo.

Napoli’s January signing Henrique is possibly the biggest surprise in the squad, having only made three substitute appearances under Scolari.

Back-up keepers Jefferson and Victor and strikers Fred and Jo are the only home-based players that will be appearing at the tournament finals.

The squad will meet up near the end of May at the Granja Comary training centre in Teresopolis before they face Panama and Serbia in their final warm-up games.

Brazil are in Group A at the tournament finals, alongside Croatia, Mexico and Cameroon, with the Seleccao 1.25 (1/4) to win the group and 4.00 (3/1) to go all the way.

Brazil squad:

Goalkeepers: Julio Cesar (Toronto FC), Jefferson (Botafogo), Victor (Atletico Mineiro);

Defenders: Dante (Bayern Munich), David Luiz (Chelsea), Henrique (Napoli), Thiago Silva (PSG), Daniel Alves (Barcelona), Maicon (Roma), Marcelo (Real Madrid), Maxwell (Paris St Germain);

Midfielders: Fernandinho (Manchester City), Hernanes (Inter Milan), Luiz Gustavo (Wolfsburg), Oscar (Chelsea/ENG), Paulinho (Tottenham), Ramires (Chelsea), Willian (Chelsea);

Strikers: Bernard (Shakhtar Donetsk), Fred (Fluminense), Hulk (Zenit Saint-Petersburg), Jo (Atletico Mineiro), Neymar (Barcelona).
