France vs NigeriaFollowing some scintillating performances in group stage, France will fancy their chances of pipping Nigeria to a place in the quarter-finals.

And while the Super Eagles defied the odds to reach the knockout phase, another row over player bonuses could seriously hinder their progress.

France needed a major comeback to reach the World Cup finals in the first place as they enjoyed a 3-2 aggregate win over Ukraine in the play-offs, so no wonder many predicted another difficult campaign for Les Bleus.

Nevertheless, France were the only European side to hit the ground running early on as two stunning displays against Honduras and Switzerland secured the first place in the standings.

Didier Deschamps then used the final group fixture against Ecuador to rest his entire starting line-up and no doubt this will give Les Bleus an advantage in the Last 16 stage clash against Nigeria.

And with their next opponents not exactly impressing at the tournament so far, France look a good bet to win at 1.50 (1/2).

Karim Benzema has been in excellent form so far, having scored 3 goals in 2 games, and he is 1.91 (10/11) to continue his run.

While a number of first team regulars will be recalled to the side, there are some doubts over the fitness of defender Mamadou Sakho, who is struggling with a groin problem.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Lloris – Debuchy, Varane, Koscielny, Evra – Sissoko, Cabaye, Matuidi – Valbuena, Giroud, Benzema.

Despite winning the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria were not exactly seen as favourites to progress from Group F.

The disappointing goalless draw against Iran did nothing to dispel the doubts, but that match seemed to have served as a wake up call for Stephen Keshi’s men.

Nigeria were then somewhat fortunate to win the crunch tie against Bosnia-Herzegovina, but the strong performance in the 3-2 loss to Argentina proved they deserve a place in the knockout stages.

As one of only two African sides in the Last 16 stage, the Super Eagles will try and go as far as possible in Brazil, and they are 4.50 (7/2) to shock France and qualify for the quarter-finals.

The training session on Friday was cancelled as the players refused to train due to a disagreement over bonuses, but the issue has since been resolved.

Victor Moses is back in contention from a muscle problem, but he is unlikely to start, while Joseph Yobo should continue in defence even though Godfrey Oboabona might be fit to play. Michael Babtunde is out with a broken wrist.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Enyeama – Ambrose, Yobo, Omeruo, Oshaniwa – Mikel, Onazi – Uchebo, Odemwingie, Musa – Emmenike.
