Granada vs Barcelona preview

Barcelona vs GranadaAfter seeing off Real Madrid in their last home fixture, Granada will attempt to beat mighty Barcelona as well and thus further escape from the bottom three.

The Catalans may have failed to win their last away match, but they, nonetheless, remain ht favourites to win at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes.

Granada may have spent much of the current campaign in the relegation zone, but the team have been showing a lot of potential from the very start of the season.

Los Rojiblancos terribly lacked consistency in the first part of the league campaign, but their results improved a great deal after the winter break.

The team have been especially impressive during the last few weeks, winning three of their last four games and this creating a six-point advantage over the bottom three.

It is the 1-0 triumph over Real Madrid that can give the players reason for optimism ahead of the clash with Barcelona, so there may be some value in backing Granada to score, at odds of 1.73 (8/11) offered at Stan James.

With Dani Benitez and Fran Rico still sidelined through injury, boss Lucas Alcaraz is unlikely to make any changes to the side that recorded a 3-0 win over Deportivo La Coruna.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Tono – Nyom, Lopez, Mainz, Siqueira – Recio, Mikel Rico – Torje, Aranda, Nolito – Ighalo.

With La Liga title already in the bag, Barcelona can fully focus on their Champions League and Copa del Rey campaigns, so no wonder Tito Vilanova plans to rest some of his starters against Granada.

The Catalans face Milan away in the Champions League last 16 stage on Wednesday, and no doubt that match is much more important than the one played at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes.

Even so, in order to keep the good atmosphere in the squad, Barca will give their best to beat Granada, and they are 1.30 (3/10) with Coral to do so.

They are also 1.67 (2/3) at 888sport to record a comfortable win and cement the first place in the La Liga standings.

There were some good news for the coaching personnel as Alex Song and Jonathan dos Santos both resumed full training, with the former expected to start against Granada.

David Villa and Xavi Hernandez are definitely out of contention, but Dani Alves, Pedro, Cesc Fabregas and Sergio Busquets all return after they were rested against Getafe.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Valdes – Alves, Mascherano, Pique, Alba – Thiago, Song, Busquets – Pedro, Messi, Fabregas.
