Marseille vs PSGLigue 1 leaders PSG enter Le Classique derby in poor spirits after losing to Sochaux, but they have a great chance to eliminate one of their rivals out of the title race.

Marseille sit five points off the top of the standings and they are aware only a win at Parc des Princes would give them a realistic chance of winning the coveted trophy.

Having continued the heavy recruitment in the summer transfer window, the Saints were tipped to make this one of the most successful seasons in their recent history.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side, nonetheless, experienced all sorts of problems in the early exchanges, but they kept raising their form as the season unfolded.

PSG finally hit the ground running at the start of December and they have been absolutely relentless ever since.

Some excellent showings in Europe saw the Saints come on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League quarter-finals, while they also created a six-point advantage at the top of Ligue 1.

Their lead at the top of the league was cut down to three points after the defeat at Sochaux, but PSG are now 1.55 (11/20) with BetVictor to return to winning ways.

After scoring 21 goals in 22 Ligue 1 fixtures this season, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is 1.67 (2/3) with Sportingbet to continue his amazing run.

Carlo Ancelotti is boosted by the return of Lucas Moura, with the Brazilian having recovered from an ankle problem, while David Beckham is also expected to make the squad for the first time since his arrival at Parc des Princes.

Thiago Silva, Alex and Mamadou Sakho are all injury doubts, while Jeremy Menez is definitely out.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Sirigu – Jallet, Alex, Sakho, Maxwell – Lucas, Verratti, Matuidi, Pastore – Ibrahimovic, Lavezzi.

New Marseille boss Elie Baup faced an uphill task ahead of the 2012/2013 season as he not only needed to help the team recover from a tenth-place finish in the league, but also had to compensate for the departure of several important players.

The former Nantes coach, nevertheless, managed to get his team back on track and has done much better than his predecessor Didier Deschamps.

Marseille may have been eliminated from Europe, but they have been exceeding expectations on domestic stage, and the mere fact they are still very much involved in the title chase speaks volumes about their performances this season.

Three days after this match, OM will face PSG in Coupe de France last 16 stage, but the league clash will certainly be much more important for both sides.

Marseille are without an away win in the league for three games, and bet365 has them at 7.50 (13/2) to end the barren run at Parc des Princes.

Important midfielders Benoit Cheyrou and Morgan Amalfitano both miss out through injury, while Jordan Ayew is suspended.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Mandanda – Fanni, N’Koulou, Lucas, Morel – Romao, Barton – Kadir, Valbuena, A. Ayew – Gignac.
