Levante vs Real Betis preview

Levante produced quite a coup by beating Espanyol away last weekend and they can now return to 4th place in the standings with three points from this match.

Real Betis, on the other hand, could only take one point from their home game against Getafe, but this clash is a good opportunity for the second successive away win.

Levante were predicted another difficult relegation struggle before the season started, but instead fighting for their lives, los Granotas are now in a position to battle for Champions League places.

Juan Ignacio Martinez’s side enjoyed a remarkable start to the season, but they then entered a dismal run of results that saw them pick up just three points from eight La Liga games.

However, just when it looked that Levante didn’t have enough in them to keep their Champions League hope alive, los Granotas produced a very good performance to beat Espanyol at Cornella El Prat and are now effectively back in business.

The hosts can now return to fourth place in the standings with a win over Betis and they are 2.60 (8/5) with Victor Chandler to do so.

Francisco Farinos misses out through suspension, but top scorer Arouna Kone should be fit to play despite struggling with a muscle problem.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Munua – Pedro Lopez, Ballesteros, Cabral, Juanfran – Xavi Torres, Iborra – Valdo, Barkero, Ghezzal – Kone.

If you have been reading our La Liga previews, you are well aware that we refer to Betis as the strangest side in Spain’s top flight and they continue to justify the interesting tag.

Los Verdiblancos can beat even the strongest La Liga sides on their day, but can also lose to the relegation strugglers and they usually win and lose games in a row.

After the four-match winless run was followed by back to back victories over Athletic Bilbao and Real Zaragoza, Betis couldn’t beat Getafe at home, and it remains to be seen whether they can continue the good run against Levante.

Real Betis are 3.10 (21/10) with Ladbrokes to claim maximum points at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia, and that is not such a bad price.

Jefferson Montero is expected to start despite returning late from international duty, while Antonio Amaya is doubtful.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Fabrizio – Nelson, Paulao, Dorado, Nacho – Salva, Iriney, Benat – Jefferson, Ruben Castro, Molina.
