Hodgson wants 10 points from final four fixtures

Roy HodgsonEngland boss Roy Hodgson believes ten points from the remaining four 2014 World Cup qualifiers will be enough for his side to secure automatic qualification.

The Three Lions host Moldova on Friday before facing Ukraine away next Tuesday in what could be a very important match.

Then they welcome Montenegro and Poland to Wembley in October in their final two group fixtures, and they are hoping to do enough to secure the first position in the standings.

“I would say we need 10 points from four games as long as we don’t lose to Ukraine and we beat Montenegro,” England boss Roy Hodgson told reporters.

And while the home match against Moldova should be a mere walk in the park, the Three Lions could face problems in Ukraine, especially if Daniel Sturridge fails to recover from injury.

“We won’t know until training on Sunday if Daniel Sturridge will be fit for Ukraine game.

“Steven Caulker also turned his ankle in training and will be out of game against Moldova, but should be ok for Ukraine.”

England sit in second place at the moment, two points behind Montenegro, but with a game in hand, and they are 1.57 (4/7) with Stan James to finish top of the group.
