Brazil vs France preview

Brazil vs EnglandThe final warm-up game ahead of the upcoming Confederations Cup will see Brazil take on France in an attempt to finally record that morale-boosting victory.

Les Bleus will have something to prove as well, having been beaten by Uruguay at Estadio Centenario last Wednesday.

The main reason why the national team chiefs sacked coach Mano Menezes was that they didn’t believe the 2014 World Cup preparations had been going as planned, but not much has changed since the arrival of former Chelsea boss.

Following the opening defeat to England, the Seleccao could only win one of next five international friendlies, more recently failing to beat the Three Lions at home.

With the Confederations Cup just around the corner, the pressure is on the team to start showing some improvement, so there may be some value in odds of 1.62 (5/8) offered at bet365 on home win.

Scolari has received some bad news after the England game as Leandro Damiao picked up a thigh injury, and he has in turn called former Manchester City striker Jo to replace him.

Nonetheless, it is experienced forward Fred who will keep his place in the starting line-up after scoring against England yet again.

After impressing in the second period of the England friendly, Hernanes and Marcelo are pushing for starting places.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Cesar – Alves, Silva, Luiz, Marcelo – Hernanes, Paulinho – Hulk, Oscar, Neymar – Fred.

With no qualifying games scheduled until September, France have embarked on a South American tour to test their skills against some of world’s top sides.

Les Bleus are locked in the battle with Spain for the first place in their 2014 World Cup qualifying group, although home defeat to La Furia Roja is likely to cost them the automatic berth.

Boss Didier Deschamps planned to use friendlies against Uruguay and Brazil to test some new players, and he did field an experimental line-up in midweek’s clash against La Celeste.

With his side losing the tie 1-0, the boss should recall his big guns for the Brazil game, with Yohan Cabaye, Adil Rami and Hugo Lloris all likely to start.

France may not be firing on all cylinders at the moment, which is probably the reason away win pays as much as 6.00 (5/1) at Sportingbet.

Karim Benzema could play some part after recovering from a knee problem, but Olivier Giroud looks set to continue his run in the side.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Lloris – Debuchy, Koscielny, Rami, Mathieu – Cabaye, Matuidi – Payet, Valbuena, Gourcuff – Giroud.
