With the two sides tied on four points and trailing leaders Fenerbahce by three, the outcome of this match is likely to decide the second team to progress from Group C.

Despite the disappointing 10th place finish in Ligue 1, Marseille managed to ensure European qualification by winning Coupe de la Ligue last term, but the team haven’t really impressed in Europe this season.

OM did enjoy a bright start to the season that included six straight wins in the league and another four points from first two Europa League group games, but their good run was short lived.

After sharing spoils with Paris Saint-Germain at their Velodrome, Marseille recorded three straight defeats, with one of those a 2-0 loss to Borussia M’gladbach that put their qualification into serious doubt.

The good news is that Elie Baup’s side have since returned to winning ways, beating Ajaccio on the road at the weekend, and they are now 1.91 (10/11) with Sportingbet to make it two in a row.

Centre-back Souleymane Diawara could make his first appearance since March, while Joey Barton and Rod Fanni return from domestic suspension. Leyti N’Diaye and Andre-Pierre Gignac remain long-term worries.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Mandanda – Fanni, Diawara, N’Koulou, Morel – Barton, Cheyrou – Amalfitano, Valbuena, A. Ayew – Remy.

Coming on the back of one of the most successful seasons in recent history, Borussia M’gladbach started the new campaign in Champions League qualifying stages, but the Germans couldn’t get past Dynamo Kiev and had to settle for Europa League instead.

The unfortunate defeat to the Ukrainian side had a pretty negative effect on the squad, as die Fohlen failed to win any of their next seven games in all competitions, taking just one point from first two group games in the process.

Lucien Favre’s side stepped up their game to record a 2-0 victory over Marseille, but they now need to bring at least one point from France in order to remain one step ahead of their rivals for the second place in the group.

Seeing they have yet to lose on European travels this season, Borussia can be backed not to lose at odds of 1.91 (10/11) offered by bet365.

Striker Luuk de Jong and youngster Amin Younes continue to miss out, while the game also comes too soon for captain Filip Daems.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Ter Stegen – Stranzl, Brouwers, Dominguez, Wendt – Nordtveit, Marx – Rupp, Hermann, Arango – De Camargo.
