Lyon vs Real BetisSecond-placed Lyon will be hoping to make a giant step towards the knockout stages by defeating out-of-sorts Real Betis, who surprisingly continue to impress on the European stage.

This season hasn’t had the best of starts for les Gones, who were soundly beaten by Real Sociedad in the Champions League play-offs, and they have since continued to struggle.

The recent good run of results, however, saw Remi Garde’s side climb to seventh in Ligue 1, while they also improved their Europa League position with four points from last two matches.

And while the derby win over Saint Etienne was expected to kick-start their season, that did not exactly happen, as Lyon could only muster a 1-1 draw at home against sorry Valenciennes.

Nevertheless, with their next opponents going through a very rough patch, you should be aware home win pays 2.15 (23/20) at BetVictor.

First choice keeper Remy Vercoutre has made a timely return into action as both Anthony Lopes and Mathieu Gorgelin are sidelined through injury.

Meanwhile, Yassine Benzia and Clement Grenier should be back from injury and suspension respectively, but Mouhamadou Dabo and Rachid Ghezzal are not yet ready to return.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Vercoutre – M. Lopes, Bisevac, Umtiti, Bedimo – Malbranque, Gonalons, Grenier – Gourcuff – Gomis, Lacazette.

Had they known the effect the Europa League campaign would have on the team, los Verdiblancos probably wouldn’t have worked so hard to secure European qualification last term.

And while they have impressed to win 8 points from first 4 group games, team’s displays in La Liga have been utterly disappointing.

Having picked up just one point from last seven league matches, Real Betis sit at rock bottom at the moment, some three points adrift of safety.

What is more, they go into the Lyon clash on the back of a 4-0 defeat to local rivals Sevilla, so no doubts the players are extremely low on confidence.

However, seeing as how los Verdiblancos have yet to lose a European match this season, bear in mind draw is available at 3.40 (12/5).

The likes of Perquis, Vadillo, Juan Carlos, Ruben Castro, Molina and Amaya have all been ruled out, with several youth players included in the list.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Sara – Steinhofer, Paulao, Figueras, Nacho – Torres, Nono – Juanfran, Verdu, Cedric – Chuli.
