Arsenal vs Tottenham

Arsenal have once again left their transfer dealings late this summer, but fans will surely be encouraged by the increasingly likely event that Luis Suarez will be leaving Liverpool.

Having missed out of the signing of Gonzalo Higuain, the club are also set to be disappointed in their pursuit of goalkeeper Julio Cesar.

In fact, their only new arrival this summer is France under 20 striker Yaya Sanogo, someone who whilst boasting a great deal of potential is largely unproven at the highest level.

Nevertheless, the club are once again odds on to finish in the top four, with William Hill offering a price of 1.67 (4/6), while they are a 2.3 (13/10) chance to miss out with Paddy Power.

Meanwhile, whilst also seemingly dragging their heels in the market initially, Tottenham Hotspur have now made three new signings as they look to improve on last season’s fifth place finish, two of which smashed the clubs transfer record.

Brazil international midfielder Paulinho, winger Nacer Chadli of Belgium and Spain striker Roberto Soldado have signed for a combined fee of around £50m, while they have recouped almost £15m following the departures of defender Steven Caulker and attacker Clint Dempsey.

Labrokes offer the best price of 3.2 (11/5) for Andre Villas-Boas to guide Spurs into the top four, while they are odds on at 1.4 (2/5) with a variety of firms to fall short.

Either side are available at 11.0 (10/1) with Bet Victor in the League Cup winners market, while Arsenal have the edge over their rivals with regards to the FA Cup, with the Gunners a 10.0 (9/1) chance with most firms ahead of the 13.0 (12/1) offered by William Hill for Spurs.

In Europe, Arsene Wenger’s men are 34.0 (33/1) with Coral to clinch the Champions League, with Tottenham currently favourites at 19.0 (18/1) with Sky Bet to lift the Europa League trophy.

Whatever the outcome, all eyes will be on the Emirates on September 1st for the first North London derby of the season, and with fifty-six goals scored over the last twelve meetings, few would bet against yet another classic match between the sides.
