The new Premier League season has barely begun and already we have a clash between last season’s top two as 2014 winners Manchester City welcome reigning champions Chelsea to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men topped the pile after the opening round of fixtures following their 3-0 thumping of West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on Monday evening.

Yaya Toure, who opened his account for the season with the second goal in that victory, is set to play despite being substituted with a slight groin problem and Gael Clichy could return following an ankle problem though midfield duo Fernando and Fabian Delph are both out.

Last season’s Premier League Golden Boot winner Sergio Aguero is favourite to get the first goal of the game at 5.5 (9/2) with a number of firms, with Raheem Sterling a 9.0 (8/1) shot with Paddy Power.

The home win is widely available at 2.15 (23/20), with the visitors easily found at 3.8 (14/5). The draw can be backed at 3.55 (28/11) with 888 Sport.

Jose Mourinho’s men dropped two points in their season opener against Swansea City at Stamford Bridge, and they will be keen to return to winning ways against the side who are tipped to be the greatest challengers to their crown.

They have no major injury concerns, though Asmir Begovic will make his first competitive start for the club with Thibaut Courtois suspended following his straight red card against Garry Monk’s men.

Diego Costa, who himself hit twenty league goals last season is priced at 7.0 (6/1) to open the scoring ahead of 2015 PFA Player of the Year Eden Hazard, who can be backed at 10.0 (9/1) with Paddy Power.

Both of last season’s clashes between the sides finished 1-1, and both teams have scored in six of the last eight times they have met.

You can back both teams to score this time around at 1.8 (4/5), while Betfair offer 1.85 (17/20) for there to be fewer than three goals in the game, as there has been on each of the last four occasions.
