Asmir Begovic has said that he is “really excited” to have joined Everton.
Everton have announced the signing of former Chelsea goalkeeper on an initial 12-month contract.
There is an option to extend the 34-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international goalkeeper’s deal for a further year.
Begovic has joined Premier League club Everton from Championship side Bournemouth for an undisclosed fee.
The former Portsmouth and Stoke City goalkeeper is delighted to have made the switch.
Begovic told Everton’s official website: “When I first heard of the possibility of joining Everton, I was really excited. Opportunities like this don’t come around every day so I’m honoured and pleased to be here.
“The ambition is to get this club to where it belongs. We want to be challenging for those European spots, challenging for trophies and being in that upper echelon of the league.
“With the squad we have, the fan base, and the tradition of the Club, everything is in place for us to be successful.”
“First and foremost, to work with people of [Rafa Benitez and Marcel Brands’] calibre is really pleasing for me and I’m looking forward to learning from them,” Begovic added.
“Just in my first couple of conversations with the manager, it’s clear he has a massive knowledge of the game.
“He has an incredible track record in terms of what he’s achieved and accomplished. To work for those sorts of managers, it’s something that’s very good for me.”
Everton can be backed at 11/1 on Betfair to finish in the top four of the Premier League table next season.
