Van Persie NetherlandsNetherlands boss Louis van Gaal believes that star striker Robin van Persie will be completely fit for the start of the 2014 World Cup.

The 30-year-old missed the end of last season through injury and it was believed he would be doubtful for the tournament finals.

Nevertheless, the highly rated forward has recovered earlier than planned and has now featured in friendlies against Ecuador and Ghana.

As a result, Oranje boss Louis van Gaal believes van Persie will be at 100% when the 2014 World Cup starts.

“He is not 100 per cent, but we have two weeks to go,” he told the FIFA’s official site.

“I think he will be 100 per cent. He is coming out of injury but we built him already up in our federation, our medical department.

“It was under the permission of David Moyes. So we could control him, he has worked very hard.

“Then he played two matches of 20 or 30 minutes and the last match 70 minutes. We did not expect that as the injury was bad.”

Having been pitted against the likes of Spain, Chile and Australia, Netherlands are priced at 1.67 (2/3) to qualify for the next stage.
