Transfer rumours linking Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney with a move to the Chinese Super League are gathering pace with the latest news of Rooney’s agent Paul Stretford flying to Beijing to hold talks for the England star’s possible transfer.

Wanye Rooney has seen his stock go through a dramatic decline this season with manager Jose Mourinho preferring Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in from the club’s all-time goal-scorer and there has been mounting speculation that Wayne Rooney has grown tired with his limited role.

The growing reports claim that the 31-year-old footballer could be on his way out of Old Trafford until the end of the month as a Chinese club has come forward with a concrete offer which could make Rooney the highest-paid player in the world.

An unnamed Chinese club is ready to splash £30 million to convince Manchester United to sell their captain, who would be then offered a whopping deal worth £1 million a week.

Even though any move to China seems unlikely before the Chinese transfer window shuts next Thursday, the British press report that Paul Stretford is already in China where he is expected to hold a series of meetings with Guangzhou Evergrande, Beijing Guoan, Jiangsu Suning and Tianjin Quanjian who are said to be among sides interested in Wayne Rooney.

Rooney is also on the radar of several MLS sides, whereas his boyhood club Everton are also keen for reunion.

Wayne Rooney is widely expected to leave the Old Trafford club – if not this month than at the end of the season – and can be found at 1.67 (4/6) @BetVictor to continue his career in China.
