Loic RemyChinese Super League has made quite an impact during the winter, having already acquired the signings of a couple of high-profile football players from Europe.

Alex Teixeira from Shakhtar and Jackson Martinez from Atletico Madrid have so far been the two most prominent names to leave for China, but the list of potential transfers gets longer every day.

Chinese clubs have invested a great deal of money with an aim of raising the quality of football in this country.

Reports in Spain claimed this week that unnamed Chinese clubs have even sent an offer to Barcelona intending to grab Dani Alves and Arda Turan, although Turan’s agent has since then went on to deny such claims.

French media outlets such as Le10 Sport have broken another exclusive this week claiming that Loic Remy could be the latest footballer to sign for a Chinese club.

The Premier League champions Chelsea have opened negotiations with Shaghai Shenhua for Remy, who could follow the path of his former Chelsea teammate Ramires who has become a Jiangsu Suning January signing.

Chelsea have reportedly received an offer worth €15 million, but Remy’s wages proved to be a stumbling block as the player himself demanded €9 million per year after tax, which was a €2 million shorter than what Shanghai Shenhua are willing to offer.

Le10 Sport have also reported that an unnamed club joined the race for the French forward offering €20 million to Chelsea, who are said to have agreed a deal in principle to sell the striker.

Loic Remy has found his time at Stamford Bridge limited to just 10 appearances this season. The 29-year-old French forward has scored only one Premier League goal for the Blues this season.

Chelsea are due to play Newcastle United on 13 February at Stamford Bridge and Guus Hiddink’s troops are standing at 1.43 (3/7) @888sport to claim the maximum three points against the Magpies.

The Chinese transfer window closes on 26 February and it seems there will be plenty of action in finals days of the winter market.
