Liverpool can welcome back forward Mohamed Salah for their UEFA Champions League clash against Atalanta on Wednesday evening.

The Egyptian missed the Reds’ last Premier League game, a 3-0 win against Leicester City, having tested positive for COVID-19.

He has now observed a period of self-isolation in line with guidelines, and has joined the Liverpool squad in first-team training, meaning he will be eligible as Jurgen Klopp’s men aim to book their place in the knockout rounds of the UEFA Champions League.

Ahead of the match, the German confirmed that Salah was able to return. He said: “Mo trained and looked really good and he gave a negative test like the rest. He is available and we will have to see what we can do with that.”

It remains to be seen who Salah will replace in the Reds’ lineup. Both Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino found the net against Leicester and are likely to be included, whilst Sadio Mane has been in positive form thus far this season.

Should Salah be included in the starting line-up for the Atalanta game, he will surely be one of the favourites to open the scoring. He currently sits at a price of 10/3 with William Hill to net the opening goal at Anfield.
