Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has raved about Naby Keita for his performance against Manchester United on Sunday evening.

The Merseyside club hammered bitter rivals United 5-0 away from home at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Mohamed Salah scored a hat-trick, while Keita and Diogo Jota were also on the scoresheet.

Keita also provided the assist for Salah’s goal in the 38th minute.

However, the evening ended on a sad note for the midfielder after he was taken off in the second half due to injury.

Paul Pogba’s challenge on Keita left the Liverpool midfielder unable to carry on.

Pogba was shown a straight red card.

Klopp told Liverpool’s official website about Keita: “Naby is in a great moment. Naby is an outstanding player and we spoke about it, about the game at Atletico: he played outstandingly well until he made the mistake around the goal of Atletico after the set-piece and that obviously shattered him a little bit, and that should not happen obviously, that is clear.

“But in such an atmosphere, against such an opponent, all of a sudden when you’re thinking about different things then it can happen.

“But it was clear we would start him again because he is in really good shape and yeah, he proved us right.”

The win against United means that Liverpool are now second in the Premier League table with 21 points from nine matches, just a point behind leaders Chelsea.

Liverpool can be backed at 11/4 on Betfair to win the Premier League title this season.
