Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin has been finally given the green light from the doctors to resume full training.
The €10 million summer signing from Borussia picked up a knee ligament injury soon after his arrival at Santiago Bernabeu and has been struggling to recover ever since.
The Turkey international had his competitive debut delayed several times due to unexpected complications with his injury, but Jose Mourinho will be happy that Sahin has been cleared to step up his rehabilitation from injury.
The Portuguese coach doesn’t want to rush Sahin into action since it was the player’s desire to make his debut as soon as possible that aggravated his injury in the first place.
The 23-year-old will have two weeks to build his fitness during the international break, after which he will be slowly integrated into the squad.
Sahin’s injury meant that Xabi Alonso played full 90 minutes in every one of Real’s first ten games of the season, and his return into action will see Mourinho give Alonso some much needed rest.
Real Madrid trail Barcelona by one point after six La Liga rounds, and they are 3.00 (2/1) with Victor Chandler to pip their fierce rivals to the La Liga title.
