Atletico Madrid have reportedly agreed a deal with Paris Saint Germain forward Edinson Cavani.

According to Sky in Italy, the 32-year-old is set to join the Spanish giants, with his contract in Paris set to expire at the end of the season.

Atletico are reportedly exploring the option of bringing the Uruguayan in during the January transfer window but should they not agree a deal with Cavani’s current employers PSG, he will join them on a free transfer come the end of the 2019/20 campaign.

The striker has been tremendous since arriving in the French capital in a £55m deal from Serie A outfit Napoli. In 290 appearances for the club, he has scored 196 goals and provided 40 assists.

He has also considerably added to his trophy haul having lifted five Ligue 1 crowns, four Coupes de France and five Coupes de la Ligue.

Should he make the switch to Madrid, Cavani is set to compete with a talented crop of attacking players already at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.

Diego Costa and Alvaro Morata have been vying for the centre-forward position, whilst Joao Felix is an extremely exciting prospect.

Despite those options, the club currently sit fourth in La Liga and have only managed to score 20 goals in 18 matches so far this season.

They currently sit at 50/1 with William Hill to win the league this season.
