Udinese vs Inter preview

Udinese missed an opportunity to climb to 3rd place in Serie A as they were beaten by Roma and another defeat would probably mean a farewell to their Champions League ambitions.

Inter returned into contention for a top 3 finish thanks to the hard-fought victory over Siena and they now aim to further close the gap behind third-placed Lazio by winning at Friuli.

The Zebrette have been going strong throughout the season, but numerous injuries to the playing squad seem to have left them unprepared for the final push.

Francesco Guidolin’s side are struggling for form at the moment, having won just one of their last seven Serie A games, and now their European qualification is in serious danger.

The hosts have no choice but to try and win this game after losing to Roma in midweek and Udinese are 2.50 (3/2) with BetVictor to claim maximum points.

The long list of injured players includes Dusan Basta, Mauricio Isla, Mehdi Benatia, Antonio Floro Flores, Diego Fabbrini and Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, with Giampiero Pinzi’s suspension only adding to the worries.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-1-1): Handanovic – Coda, Danilo, Domizzi – Pereyra, Fernandes, Pazienza, Asamoah, Armero – Abdi – Di Natale.

This is without a doubt one of the most disappointing campaigns in Inter’s recent history, as the Neroazzurri have been utterly disappointing on all fronts this season.

The latest managerial change and the arrival of enthusiastic coach Andrea Stramaccioni appears to have lifted the players’ spirits, and after taking seven points from last three games, the Giuseppe Meazza outfit are back in contention for European places.

Inter may be sitting six points adrift of third-placed Lazio, but with the two sides set to meet on the final day of the season, odds of 11.00 (10/1) offered on Inter to achieve a top 3 finish could be worth a shot.

The visitors go into this game high on confidence and are hoping to take advantage of the opponent’s problems to record what would be invaluable victory, and you should bear in mind that away win pays 3.00 (2/1) at Sportingbet.

Maicon and Wesley Sneijder continue to miss out, whereas Walter Samuel is suspended. The good news is that playmaker Ricky Alvarez has been in fine form after recovering from injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Cesar – Zanetti, Lucio, Chivu, Nagatomo – Cambiasso, Stankovic, Obi – Alvarez, Milito, Zarate.
