Napoli vs Juventus preview

Juventus vs NapoliNapoli have missed several good chances to close the gap behind Juventus, meaning this is the last opportunity for the Azzurri to return to the title race.

The Bianconeri are aware they can make a giant step towards the Serie A title by winning at San Paolo, and that is exactly what they will attempt to do here.

Napoli may have played beautiful football throughout the season, but the latest poor run of results is threatening to ruin everything they have worked for.

Walter Mazzarri’s side are winless in last five fixtures, and the dismal run have already seen them drop out of the Europa League.

Meanwhile, three straight draws in the league allowed Juventus to create a six-point advantage at the top, meaning the Azzurri now face an uphill task of getting back into the title race.

Even so, odds of 3.00 (2/1) offered at BetVictor on home win could be worth a shot. On the other hand, Napoli are no less than 5.90 (49/10) at Betfair to pip their next rivals to the Scudetto.

The only positive at the moment is that boss Walter Mazzarri has absolutely no selection problems, with Alessandro Gamberini again challenging for a starting place.

Probable starting line-up (3-4-1-2): De Sanctis – Campagnaro, Cannavaro, Britos – Maggio, Behrami, Inler, Zuniga – Hamsik – Cavani, Pandev.

Even before the season started, Juventus were seen as the main candidates for the league titles, but they have been unable to break away from the chasing pack.

Narrow defeat to Roma even allowed Napoli to completely close the gap, but the Azzurri did not take advantage of that opportunity.

Comfortable win over high-flying Siena saw the Bianconeri restore the six-point lead at the top and they now have a chance to deliver their title rivals a killer blow.

Paddy Power has them at 2.62 (13/8) to win at San Paolo, while Juventus are just 1.24 (6/25) with Betfair to defend the league title.

Arturo Vidal is set to return to the side, but Giorgio Chiellini is likely to take a place on the bench as he struggles with an ankle problem.

Martin Caceres and Nicolas Anelka are both injury doubts, whilst Simone Pepe, Paolo de Ceglie and Nicklas Bendtner continue to miss out.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-2): Buffon – Barzagli, Bonucci, Peluso – Lichtsteiner, Vidal, Pirlo, Marchisio, Asamoah – Vucinic, Matri.
