Fiorentina vs Roma preview

AS Roma v ACF Fiorentina - Serie APremium entertainment should be the order of the day when two of the most exciting sides in Italy meet in Coppa Italia quarter-finals.

Fiorentina will have a lot to prove in this match after losing their last two league fixtures, especially considering the manner of the defeats.

Viola’s three-match winning run came to an end as they lost at home to Pescara, but only after completely outclassing their less illustrious opponents.

Something similar happened in Udine at the weekend, and that will only make Vincenzo Montella and his players even more determined to return to winning ways against Roma.

Another setback would act as a huge blow to the player’s confidence, so the hosts will give their best to make sure they qualify for the Coppa Italia semis, where they will face the winner of the tie between Inter and Bologna.

Fiorentina are 2.20 (6/5) with Coral to win in regular time, while bet365 has them at 1.73 (8/11) to qualify for the next round.

After fielding weakened sides in previous rounds, Vincenzo Montella is set to revert to his strongest line-up, but he is likely to be without David Pizarro, Mattia Cassani and Matias Fernandez.

Giuseppe Rossi, Mounir El Hamdaoui, Ahmed Hegazy and Michele Camporese remain in the infirmary.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-2): Neto – Roncaglia, Rodriguez, Savic – Cuadrado, Migliaccio, Aquilani, Valero, Pasqual – Jovetic, Toni.

AS Roma successfully recovered from the dismal start to the season, but their latest poor run of results is threatening to ruin their campaign.

While the team finally rediscovered their home form, they began to struggle on the travels, losing to Chievo, Napoli and Catania in their last three away fixtures.

That could prove to be a problem now they are set to face one of the strongest home sides in the elite division, and I, therefore, see no value in backing Roma to qualify at odds of 2.25 (5/4) offered at Paddy Power.

Zdenek Zeman faces a real attacking crisis given that Pablo Osvaldo and Erik Lamela are both suspended and Francesco Totti misses out through a muscle injury.

With Nicolas Lopez away on international duty, Mattia Destro is the only available striker in the squad, with Marquinho and Pjanic likely to act as wingers against Fiorentina.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Stekelenburg – Piris, Castan, Marquinhos, Dodo – De Rossi, Florenzi, Bradley – Pjanic, Destro, Marquinho.
