Valencia vs Atletico Madrid preview

The two teams are likely to be involved in the top 4 race, meaning this will be an opportunity for one of them to gain the upper hand over the rivals.

Valencia seem to have done a very good job in the transfer window, even if they have stayed without Mata, Isco and Joaquin, with Diego Alves, Adil Rami, Dani Parejo, Pablo Piatti and Sergio Canales already looking like great signings.

Los Che had some problems in their opening game against Racing, but managed to come from two goals behind to win the game 4:3, thus showing a great fighting spirit.

Roberto Soldado continued his impressive form by scoring a hat-trick against Racing and the forward is now 2.25 (5/4) with Paddy Power to score against Atletico as well.

New signings Victor Ruiz and Antonio Barragan are already in contention for the starting places, but Bruno Saltor is set to miss out with a muscle problem.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Diego Alves – Barragan, Rami, Ruiz, Alba – Banega, Albelda – Hernandez, Jonas, Piatti – Soldado.

Atletico Madrid chiefs have showed a lot of ambition this summer and it looks that los Colchoneros are finally ready to mount a serious top 4 challenge.

The arrivals of Falcao, Adrian Lopez, Arda Turan and Diego, to name just a few, have really improved the quality of the squad, although they did stay without De Gea, Aguero and Forlan. You can read more on important arrivals and departures in our Spanish La Liga Season Preview.

Having recorded four easy victories in Europa League qualifying stages, los Colchoneros were expected to start the league campaign with a home win over Osasuna, but could only muster a goalless draw.

As the new signings slowly adapt to life at Vicente Calderon, the team should soon start showing some improvement, so odds of 1.88 (8/9) offered by Unibet on Atletico not to lose may be worth a shot.

Apart from Diego Costa, Gregorio Manzano has fully fit squad to choose from, with star signings Arda Turan and Falcao both expected in the starting line-up.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Courtois – Silvio, Perea, Dominguez, Filipe Luis – Turan, Gabi, Tiago, Reyes – Falcao, Adrian.
