Having had the misfortune to be drawn alongside Spain, all that Scotland and Czech Republic could do was to fight for the second place in the group.

The Scots are five points behind their opponents at the moment, but have a game in hand and two easy games following this clash and before the final trip to Spain.

Craig Levein’s side had big problems at the start of the qualifying campaign, but still managed to pick up four points from games against Lithuania and Liechtenstein.

Narrow defeats to Czech Republic and Spain were seen as a minor setback, but the Scots are still very much in the race for the second place. Scotland are 4.00 (3/1) to finish 2nd in Group I.

Boss Craig Levein has welcomed back Darren Flether to the fold following the midfielder’s lengthy spell on the sidelines, but Steven Whittaker is out through suspension.

With Charlie Adam and other key players performing well on club level, the gaffer believes that could make a real difference against the Czechs and Scotland are 2.63 (13/8) to record an invaluable win.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): McGregor – Hutton, Caldwell, Berra, Bardsley – Brown, Adam, Fletcher – Morrison, Miller, Naismith.

Czech Republic did take nine points from first five group games, but that just cannot be considered a great result considering the circumstances.

Following the shocking home defeat to Lithuania, the Czechs showed some improvement to beat Scotland and Liechtenstein, but things soon started taking the wrong turn.

The team recorded another win over Liechtenstein after losing in Spain, but it was the performances in friendly games that should really have coach Michal Bilek worried.

Czech Republic are winless in last five friendly games, with the 3:0 defeat to Norway in their last game proving that the team are in big problems.

The atmosphere surrounding the team is pretty poor at the moment, and with Petr Cech and Tomas Necid missing out through injury, the visitors will have their work cut out for them at Hampden Park.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Drobny – Pospech, Sivok, Rajnoch, Kadlec – Plasil, Rosicky, Hubschman, Pudil – Baros, Pekhart.
