Real Betis vs Real Zaragoza preview

Real Betis have got to be considered favourites in this clash after winning their first three league games, but they certainly cannot afford to underestimate Real Zaragoza.

The club from Sevilla returned to Spanish top flight after spending two years in Segunda and los Verdiblancos quickly showed everyone they are not only there to make up the numbers.

While the away win over Granada and home victory against Mallorca were seen as great results, it was the 3:2 win at San Mames that helped Betis prove their credentials.

The team clearly don’t have enough quality to keep the high league position, but los Verdiblancos are looking to collect as many points as possible before they start facing the top 4 sides.

Despite winning all three games so far, Betis are 1.73 (8/11) with Ladbrokes to make it four in a row, as the bookies seem to doubt the team have what it takes to keep the rich vein of form.

Roque Santa Cruz is a doubt because of the muscle fatigue, while Ruben Castro remains sidelined. Mario is suspended after seeing red against Athletic Bilbao, but Sergio Rodriguez returns to the side after the lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Barriaga – Chica, Mario, Dorado, Perez – Iriney, Benat – Montero, Sevilla, Pereira – Molina.

Having narrowly escaped relegation last term, Real Zaragoza are looking to show some improvement this season and hopefully avoid another relegation struggle.

After staying without Jarosik, Boutahar, Gabi, Herrera and Uche, the club managed to bring some very good replacements in Mateos, Juan Carlos, Juarez, Meira, Zuculini, Barrera, Postiga and Luis Garcia, meaning the squad is certainly not weaker than last term.

Zaragoza were powerless to resist Real Madrid in their opening game, having lost 6:0 at home, but they showed a lot of improvement in next two games.

Goalless draw at Rayo Vallecano and home win over Espanyol helped the players restore some of the lost confidence and they are now hoping to continue the good run in Sevilla.

Striker Helder Postiga is set to start after shaking off a minor knock, but his compatriot Fernando Meira is unlikely to feature.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Roberto – Juarez, Mateos, Da Silva, Paredes – Ponzio, Ruben Micael – Barrera, Luis Garcia, Lafita – Postiga.
