Milan vs Inter preview

This Milan derby is a potential title decider since AC Milan currently lead the title race, with Inter trailing by just two points.

The Rossoneri are aware they can make a giant step towards the Serie A title by winning this game and they are determined to return to winning ways following slip-ups against Bari and Palermo.

Considering that the hosts will remain in the driving seat even if they record a draw, maybe this is a good time to back Milan to win the Serie A title at odds of 2.20 (6/5) offered by William Hill.

While Zlatan Ibrahimovic remains suspended, the injury situation has improved significantly and after Kevin-Prince Boateng, Alexandre Pato and Mark van Bommel completed the training session without problems, they are all expected to start the game.

Andrea Pirlo is still not fully fit and he should start on the bench, whereas Inzaghi, Ambrosini, Bonera and Jankulovski remain sidelined.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Abbiati – Abate, Nesta, Silva, Antonini – Gattuso, Van Bommel, Seedorf – Boateng – Pato, Robinho.

Inter managed to close the gap behind the bitter rivals to just two points following the impressive run of results, and they now have a great chance to finally climb to the top of the standings.

The Neroazzurri also managed to qualify for the Champions League quarter-finals despite losing the first leg to Bayern, which was an additional confidence boost for Leonardo’s men.

The boss will wait until the match day to assess the condition of several players, but Cristian Chivu and Andrea Rannochia should be fit to play.

Lucio and Samuel miss out through suspension and injury respectively, while Diego Milito is likely to start on the bench after recovering from injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Cesar – Maicon, Rannochia, Cordoba, Chivu – Motta, Cambiasso, Zanetti – Sneijder – Pazzini, Eto’o.

888Sport sees Inter as favourites as they pay 2.70 (17/10) on away win, whereas Milan are 2.88 (15/8) to win the game at Victor Chandler. Draw pays 3.25 (9/4).
