A clash between Malaga and Granada was considered a big derby in the 70s, with the two team now set to rekindle their rivalry after 36 years.

Despite spending piles of clash in the summer on players like Cazorla, Van Nistelrooy, Mathijsen and Toulalan, to name just a few, Malaga are still searching for their first points of the season, having lost their opening game to Sevilla.

The international break allowed coach Manuel Pellegrini some extra time to work with his players, although he couldn’t count on all of them due to their international commitments.

The team are now in better shape than at the start of the season and they will only continue to improve as the new players slowly adapt to the new surroundings, so you should now los Boquerones are 1.44 (4/9) with Ladbrokes to win this game.

Julio Baptista and Kris Stadsgaard miss out through injury, whereas Nacho Monreal, Diego Buonanotte and Enzo Maresca are pushing for starting places.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Caballero – Jesus Gamez, Demichelis, Mathijsen, Monreal – Cazorla, Toulalan, Maresca, Joaquin – Van Nistelrooy, Rondon.

Granada reached Spanish top flight after gaining two consecutive promotions and everybody at the club are determined to survive the first season in the elite division.

The club did brilliantly to reinforce the squad over the summer, despite operating on really tight budget, and there are no doubts that players like Pamarot, Mollo, Carlos Martins, Yebda, Diakhate, Jara and Uche will improve the quality of the side.

Coach Fabri Gonzalez will obviously need some time to make the new players gel as some of them have missed pre-season training and that was probably the main reason behind the opening defeat to Betis.

Granada should show some improvement after the boss had two whole weeks to work with his players, but getting something from Malaga could prove to be too big a task, as witnessed by the odds of 2.88 (17/9) offered by Paddy Power on Granada not to lose.

Right back David Cortes and back-up keeper Jose Juan miss out through injury, while club’s latest signing Ikechukwu Uche will be in contention.

Alex Geio is unlikely to be risked despite recovering from injury, but all other footballers are fit to feature.

Probable starting line-up (4-1-4-1): Roberto – Nyom, Diakhate, Mainz, Siqueira – Moises – Jara, Martins, Yebda, Benitez – Uche.
