Genoa vs Napoli preview

Genoa enter this match on the back of the 5:3 defeat to Palermo and judging by their latest results, we should see a highly entertaining encounter at Marassi.

The Rossoblu have been terribly inconsistent this season and that is the main reason why they are not placed higher than the 10th place.

In all fairness, the squad did undergo major changes in the summer, but the new players had more than enough time to acclimatize and should finally start producing what is expected of them.

The club management further reinforced the squad in January, having bought Alberto Gilardino and Davide Biondini, whereas Pasquale Marino replaced Alberto Malesani on the bench.

The 3:2 victory over Udinese hinted that Genoa might be able to kick-start their season, but Coppa Italia defeat to Inter and 5:3 loss at Renzo Barbera served as big blows to the players’ confidence.

The hosts have got to try everything to win this game, but backing them to beat Napoli at 3.30 (23/10) offered by BetVictor just doesn’t seem right.

Defenders Luca Antonelli, Dario Dainelli and Cesare Bovo continue to miss out, whereas Kakha Kaladze, Kevin Constant and Miguel Veloso are all doubtful.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Frey – Mesto, Granqvist, Moretti, Rossi – Biondini, Seymour, Kucka – Palacio, Gilardino, Jankovic.

Napoli are another Serie A side that are struggling to fulfill their potential, although Walter Mazzarri’s side are finally showing signs of promise.

The Partenopei have just extended their unbeaten run to six games with an impressive 2:0 win over Inter in Coppa Italia, but they would probably trade that triumph for three points against Genoa.

Napoli are no less than nine points adrift of the Champions League places and they have got to start winning in order to close that gap.

After such a good display against Inter, maybe Napoli are worth a shot at 2.38 (11/8) offered by none other than BetVictor.

Ezequiel Lavezzi is expected to start after recovering from injury, meaning that Walter Mazzarri has full squad to choose from.

Probable starting line-up (3-4-2-1): De Sanctis – Campagnaro, Cannavaro, Aronica – Maggio, Inler, Gargano, Dossena – Lavezzi, Hamsik – Cavani.
