Eintracht Frankfurt vs Bayern Munich preview

Bayern vs EintrachtHaving finally returned to winning ways last weekend, Eintracht Frankfurt have got to try and win this game and thus remain in contention for the top 4 finish.

Buoyed by the Champions League victory over Juventus, Bayern Munich arrive at Commerzbank Arena looking to clinch the Bundesliga title with six games to go.

One of the most famous clubs in Germany did well to return to the elite division, but nobody believed they could do more than just avoid relegation.

Armin Veh’s side, nonetheless, enjoyed a memorable start to the season, and while they did start to suffer later on, Eintracht kept their Champions League dream very much alive.

Last weekend’s away win over bottom-placed Greuther Furth was extremely important as it ended a six-match winless run and gave the team much needed confidence boost ahead of the season finale.

Eintracht now face a mountain to climb against Bundesliga leaders Bayern, as witnessed by odds of 6.50 (11/2) offered at BetVictor on home win.

First choice keeper Kevin Trapp continues to miss out with a broken hand, while important midfielder Pirmin Schwegler is doubtful.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Nikolov – Jung, Zambrano, Anderson, Oczipka – Schwegler, Rode – Aigner, Meier, Inui – Lakic.

The mere fact Bayern currently boast a 20-point cushion at the top of German Bundesliga speaks volumes about team’s performances this term.

It has long ago become clear that the Bavarians will win the league title, but that did not stop them from keeping the rich vein of form and winning games with ease.

With the league title already in the bag, Champions League campaign has become a priority and the impressive performance in the 2-0 win over Juventus hinted that Bayern could go all the way this term.

Given that the Eintracht clash comes four days before the return leg against the Bianconeri, Jupp Heynckess is likely to rest a number of regular starters, but let’s not forget the last time he did that, his side recorded a mind-blowing 9-2 win over Hamburger.

Seeing as how the Bavarians would celebrate the league title with three points from this match, bear in mind that away win pays 1.57 (4/7) at BetFred.

Despite scoring four goals against HSV, Claudio Pizaro is set to start on the bench as Mario Gomez is preferred to replace Mario Mandzukic up front, with the Germany international 2.20 (6/5) at bet365 to score at any time.

Toni Kroos and Holger Badstuber are out injured, while a number of regular starters is going to be rested for the Juventus match.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Neuer – Rafinha, Van Buyten, Boateng, Contento – Tymoshchuk, Martinez – Robben, Muller, Shaqiri – Gomez.
