Juventus vs Bayern Munich preview

Bayern vs JuveAfter Bayern triumphed 2-0 in what was a pretty one-sided affair, Juventus find themselves in all sorts of problems, but the Bianconeri still believe they can overturn the deficit and make it to the semi-finals.

The Bavarians are brimming with confidence having just clinched the Bundesliga title and they remain hot favourites to go through.

Juventus started a very ambitious project some two years ago designed to help the club return to old glory days, and the first signs have been more than positive.

The Bianconeri are closing in on back to back Serie A titles, while also proving their worth in Europe’s elite competition.

After eliminating reigning champions Chelsea in group stage and seeing off Celtic in the first knockout round, the Old Lady were unfortunate to be pitted against mighty Bayern, but they should have, nonetheless, done better in the first leg.

The goal conceded in the very first minute certainly did not help, but the reality is Antonio Conte’s side failed to match their opponents for large periods of the game.

Juventus are set to revert to more positive approach at their Arena, with Stan James paying 2.80 (9/5) on home win.

With Sebastian Giovinco likely to miss out, the hosts will be heavily relying on Mirko Vucinic up front, who is 3.25 (9/4) at Ladbrokes to score at any time after bagging a brace at the weekend.

Stephan Lichtsteiner and Arturo Vidal are out through suspension, with Simone Padoin and Paul Pogba likely to come in.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-2): Buffon – Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini – Padoin, Pogba, Pirlo, Marchisio, Asamoah – Vucinic, Matri.

While they could blame nobody but themselves for losing the Bundesliga title race last term, Bayern were extremely unfortunate to miss out on the Champions League trophy, having completely outclassed Chelsea in the final.

The Bavarians did their best to make amends this term, and they are certainly getting closer to their pre-season ambitions.

A 1-0 victory over Eintracht helped the team clinch the league title with six games to go, and now it’s time to turn their attention towards the Champions League campaign.

Bayern are in a great position to qualify following the impressive 2-0 win in the first leg, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them record another triumph over the weakened Bianconeri.

Having said that, the Bavarians are 2.63 (13/8) at BetFred to record their fifth straight victory in all competitions.

Key midfielder Toni Kroos has been ruled out for the season, while Holger Badstuber is also sidelined. Javi Martinez returns after missing the first leg through suspension.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Neuer – Lahm, Van Buyten, Dante, Alaba – Martinez, Schweinsteiger – Robben, Muller, Ribery – Mandzukic.
