Portugal coach Paulo Bento has just received some bad news as both Danny and Silvio have been ruled out of the Euro 2012 play-offs with Bosnia-Hercegovina.

Zenit playmaker Danny missed the club’s weekend game against Kuban through a knee injury and Portugal medical team informed Bento that the player will not be able to recover in time for the two games against Bosnia.

Atletico Madrid defender Silvio is also set to miss out, having failed to recover from a pubic bone injury.

Paulo Bento decided to call two new players after the pair was ruled out through injury, with PAOK midfielder Vieirinha and Malaga’s Eliseu called as replacements.

The Malaga midfielder started Portugal’s last two qualifiers at left back in the absence of Fabio Coentrao, but he was surprisingly left out of the original squad for Bosnia games.

PAOK winger Vierinha, on the other hand, has received his first ever Portugal call-up, although he is highly unlikely to be called into action in such important games.

Portugal travels to Zenica on Friday before hosting Bosnia at La Luz four days later, with Paulo Bento’s side 1.44 (4/9) with Victor Chandler to qualify.
