FA-cup

The fourth round of this season’s FA Cup kicks off at the Abbey Stadium on Friday evening, where League Two Cambridge United host eleven time winners Manchester United.

The hosts, who beat fellow fourth-tier side Luton Town in the previous round, are playing at this stage in the competition for only the second time since reaching the quarter finals in 1991, their joint-best ever showing.

That win over the Hatters began a run of three straight victories, with their latest triumph coming over Newport County in the league – a result that moved them up to ninth place in the table, nine points off the play-offs.

Top scorer Tom Elliot is set to lead the line alongside former Crystal Palace man Sulley Kaikai, while Cameron McGeehan will hope to keep his place in midfield after bagging a brace on his debut last time out.

Elliot is 17.0 (16/1) to get the first goal of the game with Bet 365, with former Manchester United winger Luke Chadwick a 29.0 (28/1) shot with the same firm.

The home win is as highly priced as the 17.0 (16/1) on offer from Betfair, with the visitors odds on favourites at 1.22 (2/9) with a variety of firms. The draw can be backed at 7.0 (6/1) with Bet 365.

Louis van Gaal’s men defeated Yeovil Town in round three, and go in to the game having lost just one of their last thirteen games in all competitions.

Jonny Evans and Ashley Young are both out injured and Robin van Perise is not likely to be risked so James Wilson could start, while Victor Valdes is likely to make his United debut having signed for the club earlier this month.

Wayne Rooney is 5.0 (4/1) to open the scoring with a number of firms, with Wilson a 6.0 (5/1) chance with 888 Sport.
These two sides have met just twice before, with the Manchester side winning a two-legged League Cup tie 4-1 on aggregate in the 1990/91 season.

There is an even bigger gulf between the two sides these days, so may be tempted to back an away win to nil at a somewhat generous 1.91 (10/11) with Sky Bet.
