Wales captain Ashley Williams has revealed that Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale might not be fit to start against FYR Macedonia.
The winger has missed a big chunk of pre-season training as he was concentrated on the proposed move to Santiago Bernabeu, but he was, nevertheless, called to Wales squad for qualifiers against FYR Macedonia and Serbia.
Even if he has looked sharp in training, team captain Ashley Williams doesn’t think Bale is fit enough to start in Skopje.
“We haven’t spoken about our starting XI yet so I don’t know what the gaffer’s going to do, but I don’t think he’s match fit,” Williams told Sky Sports News.
“He seems good in training. He has taken part in all the sessions and from what I can see he looks, good, but I’m guessing he needs a bit more match fitness.
“He has looked the same old Gareth and we are happy to have him.”
